Second Grade

Ms. Bilich
Ms. Bilich is a graduate from Stevenson University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She received this degree in Spring 2023 after completing her internship at MCES. Outside of school, Ms. Bilich enjoys taking walks, crafting, and spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys painting and is a big fan of the Baltimore Ravens, her favorite football team! Ms. Bilich hopes to empower her students in the world of learning. Her goal as an educator is to help her students recognize their own brilliance and the many strengths they hold. She is honored to be part of the Mays Chapel family and is looking forward to a fabulous year! 


Ms. Ewell
Ms. Ewell feels excited and fortunate to have had the opportunity to open Mays Chapel Elementary School and to continue this journey with all of the students and staff! She began her teaching career in 1988 in Baltimore City before coming to Baltimore County where she spent 19 years at Carroll Manor Elementary School and 3 years at Westchester Elementary School. She earned a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland College Park and a masters degree in reading from The Johns Hopkins University. She became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2002 and held that certification continuously for ten years. Throughout her career, she has taught as a classroom teacher in grades one and two and has served as a reading specialist. She was a member of the Math Cadre in Baltimore County where she assisted in helping to write math curriculum as well as provide professional development for teachers. In 2013, she was selected to help write math curriculum that was published through a grant program funded by NSA. She lives in Riderwood with her two children, Reese and Sadie, and her own Labrador, Roxy and cat, Mango. She spends most of her free time with her children's activities and enjoys swimming, reading, and being outdoors mostly at the beach!

Mr. Figlewski
Mr. Fig recently joined the Mays community and is excited to be able to teach students in his home community. He previously worked for nine years at Norwood Elementary, a Title One school in Dundalk, where he taught 1st and 3rd grades and was a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Resource teacher for students in Kindergarten through Third Grade. Mr. Fig graduated from CCBC with an Associates in Teaching, Towson University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education, and from UMBC with a Masters of Education with a STEM endorsement. Mr. Fig lives in Wellington Valley with his wife, two boys, and pet turtle. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venture Scout and earned his Eagle award through scouting. He also practiced Martial Arts for 20 years, earning a Second Degree Black Belt. Some of his favorite things include Marvel and Star Wars, computer games, playing with his boys, and spending time outdoors.


Mrs. Haught
Mrs. Haught is overjoyed to be joining the 2nd grade team at Mays Chapel. She received her Elementary Education degree from Towson University and will be finishing her Master's degree in Reading Education at Towson in 2024. This is Mrs. Haught's 8th year teaching in Baltimore County, where she has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. Mrs. Haught loves and lives in Baltimore City with her husband and their dog Weller. Mrs. Haught's passion is being an educator and also enjoys reading, hiking, and staying active with her family. Mrs. Haught believes in "leading with love" as a teacher and is looking forward to creating relationships with her new students and families this year at Mays Chapel!
