Ms. McGinnis:

Ms. McGinnis graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stevenson University. Her passion for teaching started at a very young age and has been influenced by her past educators. She loves teaching in Baltimore County, seeing as she completed her academic career in the Baltimore County Public School System. Outside of school, Ms. McGinnis enjoys going to the beach, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a very passionate Baltimore Ravens fan.

Ms. Ostrander:
Ms. Ostrander is thrilled to be an official part of the Mays Chapel Elementary staff! Ms. Ostrander worked at Mays as a student intern on the fifth grade team before graduating from Stevenson University in 2017 with a degree in Elementary Education. She is looking forward to creating a community of empathetic and collaborative learners in her classroom. In her spare time, Ms. Ostrander likes to paint canvases, read mystery books, and listen to music. Ms. Southern:  Ms. Southern joined the Mays Chapel Labs just in time for the 2017 school year, and is thrilled to be revisiting 3rd grade. Most of her 30 years of teaching have been with either third grade or fourth, and her most recent stint was fourth grade at Oakleigh Elementary in Parkville. Prior to that, she was a math/science resource teacher, where she discovered her love of math manipulatives to help kids truly understand the thought behind the steps. Along the way, she also developed her love of science and helping her students explore their environment. As a writer on the side, she enjoys helping students learn to express their thoughts, and hopes to enable them to share their ideas. When not at school, Ms. Southern is likely to be found in her gardens, working on her novel, or playing with her critters. She is also the very proud mom of two girls, mostly grown, who share her love of animals and the diversity of our planet.

Ms. Washington:
Ms. Washington is a graduate of Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She received this degree in May 2015. She relocated from, the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, Pennsylvania. In her free time she enjoys yoga, exercising, and spending time with her family and friends. Teaching and learning is her passion; she delights in making learning exciting.  Ms. Washington is excited to see what another year at Mays Chapel will bring!
