Mr. Brown
Mr. Brown is extremely excited for another great year in 4th grade!  Outside of teaching, Mr. Brown loves spending time with his family and friends.  He also enjoys watching and playing sports and is a big fan of science fiction, ranging everywhere from superheroes to Star Wars.  As he enters his 10th year teaching in Baltimore County, Mr. Brown hopes to continue creating a positive influence on every student and to help them succeed to the best of their ability this school year.

Ms. Paxson

Her passion is teaching, and her favorite grade to teach is 4th! This is her 24th year teaching public elementary school in Maryland. She has taught in several counties and is thrilled to make Mays Chapel her new home! Ms. Paxson did her undergraduate studies at St. Mary’s College of Md and obtained her MA in Leadership/Curriculum & Instruction from Concordia University.  Ms. Paxson has an amazing 27th year old daughter who lives in DC. When Ms. Paxson isn’t teaching, she enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and walking her blind dog, Lola, in her doggy stroller!  Ms. Paxson and her daughter traveled to the Galapagos Islands this summer and were able to watch sea turtles, sea lions, and colorful fish. Her favorite snacks are gluten free pretzels and Coke. She is truly thrilled to be teaching and learning at Mays Chapel and is excited to learn and grow with her students!

Ms. Thompson

Ms. Thompson is thrilled to be a part of the Mays Chapel team! She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She is a graduate of Towson University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Thompson has always wanted to be a teacher, and grew up playing school with her friends and family. In her spare time, Ms. Thompson loves to stay busy! She likes to go shopping, work out, travel to the beach and spend time with family and friends. Ms. Thompson also enjoys watching shows on Netflix, reading a good book and cheering for her favorite football team, the Ravens! Ms. Thompson looks forward to creating a positive and purposeful environment for her students to foster personal, social and academic growth for all students. She can’t wait for a wonderful year at Mays Chapel!

Mrs. Zachary

After graduating from West Virginia University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies and surviving the blizzard of 1996, I began my first “real” job as a preschool teacher.  For four years, I worked at A Small World, Inc. teaching four year olds their ABC’s and 1-2-3’s.  While I really enjoyed my job, I knew that in order to be a self-sufficient adult, I would need to further my education.  In 1998 I began the Masters of Art in Teaching program at Towson University.   In 2000, I graduated and began working for Baltimore County Public Schools.  My first position in the county was as a fourth grade teacher at Mars Estates Elementary in Essex, Maryland.  After teaching for several years, I realized that if I was going to educate children for the next 30 years, I needed to explore teaching another grade levels.  My principal reluctantly honored my request and let me teach first grade.  I quickly learned that I was better suited working with older children so the following year, I moved back to teaching fourth grade.  I worked at Mars Estates until I gave birth to my son, Michael in 2005.

I was lucky enough to spend several years being a “stay at home mom”.  When Michael got a bit older, I returned to teaching preschool.  For four years, I worked at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lutherville.

In 2012 I returned to Baltimore County Public Schools.  For three years, I worked at Lansdowne Elementary teaching second grade.  Lansdowne was also a Lighthouse school, which in turn lead me to Mays Chapel Elementary.  In 2016, I was thrilled to join the fourth grade team at Mays Chapel.
