Mr. Baker

Mr. Baker is a new educator who is joining the Mays Chapel Elementary team after recently graduate from Towson University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. He is excited to be rejoining Baltimore County after spending his formative years as a student in the county. His passion for education is driven by his own desire to learn and share that knowledge with those around him. He has a fondness for science and nature and is eager to share that enthusiasm with his students. Outside of school, he enjoys cycling, canoeing, and painting. He also enjoys watching animation and is a big fan of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team.

Mrs. Breen:  

Mrs. Breen is in her 13th year of teaching for BCPS. She is a graduate of Towson University and is currently finishing her second Masters in Secondary Mathematics Education. She has experience teaching grades 2-5, and the exposure to multiple grade levels has been very useful in helping students move forward with their academic goals at various levels. While her specialty is mathematics, she loves teaching all subjects and aspires to make learning applicable to her students' lives. Mrs. Breen is married with 4 children ranging from a fifth grader to the tenth grader, and approaches teaching has both an educator and a parent. She enjoys traveling, photography, history, and music!

Mrs. Caplan:  

Mrs. Caplan has taught fourth grade in the Baltimore County Public School community since 2008. Before becoming a member of Team Mays, she taught at Sandy Plains Elementary School in the Southeast Area. She is passionate about 21st Century learning, and looks forward to working together with her students to utilize technology and optimize their educational experience. Mrs. Caplan, originally from New York, earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Towson University, and has since made Baltimore her home. She went on to earn a Graduate Certificate for Leadership in Technology Integration from Johns Hopkins University, and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys all that Baltimore City life has to offer, but also loves to travel and experience new places. 

Mr. Cooney: 
Mr. Cooney has been teaching since 2008. He started his teaching career at Lansdowne Elementary School in Southwestern Baltimore County. He attended Stevenson University for his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and received his master's degree in Technology in Education at Johns Hopkins University. In addition to teaching fifth grade at Mays, Mr. Cooney teaches a STEM course for future educators at Stevenson University. Mr. Cooney's hobbies include writing and photography. He is also one of the directors of the MCES Performing Arts Club. He is the proud father of Gideon, Willa, and Loretta. 

Ms. McGinnis:

Ms. McGinnis graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stevenson University. Her passion for teaching started at a very young age and has been influenced by her past educators. She loves teaching in Baltimore County, seeing as she completed her academic career in the Baltimore County Public School System. Outside of school, Ms. McGinnis enjoys going to the beach, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a very passionate Baltimore Ravens fan.
