Fifth Grade

Ms. McGinnis
Ms. McGinnis graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stevenson University. Her passion for teaching started at a very young age and has been influenced by her past educators. She loves teaching in Baltimore County, seeing as she completed her academic career in the Baltimore County Public School System. Outside of school, Ms. McGinnis enjoys going to the beach, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a very passionate Baltimore Ravens fan.

Ms. Blessing
Ms. Blessing is very excited to start a new year of learning and growing with her students. Born and raised in Maryland, she attended Salisbury University and received her degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Blessing values each and every child that walks through her door and is passionate about creating a positive and safe classroom community. Outside of teaching, Ms. Blessing loves spending time with her large close knit family of brothers, sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She enjoys music, concerts, singing and dancing, spending time in nature, and cheering for Philadelphia sports teams!

Ms. Novotny
Mrs. Novotny began teaching with Baltimore County Public Schools in 2005.  She taught 3rd grade for ten years before moving to part-time teaching while her children were younger.   Although this is Mrs. Novotny's first year at Mays Chapel, this is her fourth-year teaching 5th grade ELA and Content.  Mrs. Novotny holds a master's degree in Reading from Goucher College.  She is excited to be teaching at Mays Chapel Elementary School this year because she enjoys living in the community she teaches in!  Mrs. Novotny lives with her husband and 3 children (ages 9, 7, and 4) in Pine Valley.  She enjoys anything related to Fall and pumpkins, reading mysteries, and wandering the aisles at Target.  Her children play sports year-round, so you may see her on the soccer and lacrosse fields, as well as at wrestling tournaments.

Mrs. Watson
Mrs. Watson has been teaching for 25 years, wearing many hats from middle school science to 2nd grade. She holds an advanced degree from Goucher College in special education and environmental science.  Mrs. Watson enjoys vacationing with her family in Long Island.
