Fifth Grade


Mr. Baker

Mr. Baker is a new educator who is joining the Mays Chapel Elementary team after recently graduate from Towson University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. He is excited to be rejoining Baltimore County after spending his formative years as a student in the county. His passion for education is driven by his own desire to learn and share that knowledge with those around him. He has a fondness for science and nature and is eager to share that enthusiasm with his students. Outside of school, he enjoys cycling, canoeing, and painting. He also enjoys watching animation and is a big fan of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team.


Mrs. Caplan:  

Mrs. Caplan is a passionate educator who has been teaching in Baltimore County since 2008. Originally from New York, her desire to teach brought her to Towson University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Mrs. Caplan began her career at a Title I school in the southeast area where she taught for six years before coming to Mays Chapel when the school opened. She has earned a Graduate Certificate for Leadership in Technology Integration from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology and Leadership from Loyola University Maryland. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Caplan enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. She loves traveling, crafting, shopping, Baltimore City life, and petting every dog she sees.



Ms. McGinnis:

Ms. McGinnis graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stevenson University. Her passion for teaching started at a very young age and has been influenced by her past educators. She loves teaching in Baltimore County, seeing as she completed her academic career in the Baltimore County Public School System. Outside of school, Ms. McGinnis enjoys going to the beach, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a very passionate Baltimore Ravens fan.


Mrs. Stefanik

Mrs. Stefanik graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Frostburg State University. Mrs. Stefanik began her teaching career at a Title I school in the northeast area for three years and continued her career in another Title I school in the southeast area for ten years.  She is very excited to be beginning her fourteenth year of teaching here at Mays Chapel.  Her passion for teaching started when she herself was in fifth grade and was greatly impacted by her 5th grade educator. Outside of school, Mrs. Stefanik enjoys traveling with her husband, playing with her yorkie poo, Chesney, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a passionate Baltimore Ravens fan and yes New York Yankees fan.


Ms. Weis

Mrs. Weis is so excited to be joining the Mays Chapel family this year! She grew up in a small town in Upstate New York and moved down to Texas for college where she graduated from the University of North Texas in 2015. Mrs. Weis started her teaching career in Texas where she taught for four years (second and fifth grade) before relocating to the Baltimore area this past summer. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and family, traveling, crafting, shopping and playing with her dog, Scout.
