School Messages

Dear Mays Chapel Family:

I hope this message finds you well as we head into August. Following the Board of Education meeting last night there are some important highlights I’d like to share with you.

Staffing Update:

First, our assistant principal, Ms. Magan Chyko-Leigh, has been appointed as principal of Sparks Elementary School, effective August 12, 2020.  While Ms. Chyko-Leigh is excited for the new opportunity, she will miss the Mays Chapel students, staff, and families with whom she has built relationships and fond memories with over the years.  I wish Ms. Chyko-Leigh the very best in her new position and thank her for her incredible service to our students, families, and staff.

I will send another communication once a new assistant principal is appointed by the Board of Education. I am eager to provide opportunities for staff and families to meet our new assistant principal once it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will seek a virtual opportunity as soon as we are able.

BCPS Re-Opening Plan:

While this initial message is not heavy on details. It is intended to provide some guidance on specifics to come. The information is provided in bullets for succinctness and clarity. Specifics on the BCPS re-opening plan are available here:

Wednesdays are reserved for targeted student intervention and independent student work. Specific school schedules will be shared upon approval.
