Ms. Hoffman is pleased to be a part of the Mays Chapel Elementary School First Grade team! She has a passion for teaching and learning. As a child, she had always wanted to become a teacher, and would often play school with her younger brother and neighbors. She has been teaching first grade students since 2007. Ms. Hoffman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Towson University. Prior to teaching at Mays Chapel, she worked at Norwood Elementary School in Baltimore County, solely teaching first grade. Ms. Hoffman enjoys reading, traveling, kayaking and spending time with family and friends. She is delighted to begin a new school year at Mays Chapel Elementary!
At age 9, Mrs. Maietta wanted to be a teacher because she liked writing on the chalkboard. Her reasons to go into education evolved and eventually led to her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, immediately followed by a Masters in Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey. Originally from South Jersey, Mrs. Maietta began her teaching career in 2007 for Prince George’s County Public Schools, teaching 1st and 2nd grades before coming to Baltimore County in 2012. She spent 4 years teaching at Edmondson Heights Elementary, 1 year in reading reduction and 3 years in Kindergarten. When not teaching, Mrs. Maietta enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughter and trying to get back into running. She is honored and excited to become part of the 1st grade team at Mays! (If you were wondering how to pronounce her name it’s My-etta.)
Ms. Montgomery was raised in Baltimore County has great BCPS pride. After receiving degrees in elementary and special education from Radford University her BCPS teaching career started in the fall of 1990. In the spring of 2008 she received her National Board Teaching Certificate.
Ms. Montgomery is the proud parent of 2 children; Michael and Rebecca. Her interests include the great outdoors; trail running, backpacking, and riding horses. She also loves to cook and read, but most of all she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Ms. Montgomery is looking forward to learning about the interests of her students and celebrating the things that makes each of them special.
Mrs. Puopolo is thrilled to be a part of making positive and meaningful school memories with your child! Her optimistic personality and dedication to the teaching profession will be a valuable asset to help cultivate an encouraging and positive culture at our school. As a career changer, she spent several years working in a private industry and finally heard her true calling to become a teacher. One year later, she received her Master of Arts in Teaching degree along with a dual certification in elementary and special education through an accelerated graduate program at the College of Notre Dame. Mrs. Puopolo is married and the proud parent of Milo and Sunny, her own two little angels! She enjoys swimming, laughing and reading. Her passion is teaching and cannot wait to be part of building a love of learning and risk taking for your own little ones at Mays Chapel Elementary School.
Ms. Quimby graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education. Teaching is her passion and she has always known that it was the career path that she wanted to take. Ms. Quimby began her career as a special education inclusion teacher in Baltimore County in August of 2013. In 2015, Ms. Quimby was lucky enough to begin teaching first grade at Mays. Along with teaching first grade, she is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Leadership in Special Education - Exceptionalities. Ms. Quimby loves to spend time with her friends and family, keeping active, and living city life!
Mrs. Smith has been a classroom teacher in the Baltimore County School System since 1999. Patti received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also received her Master’s in Education through Walden University, specializing in Reading. Patti taught both first grade and kindergarten at Berkshire Elementary School before becoming a part of the Mays Chapel family when it opened in 2014. When she is not teaching, Patti enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, Will and Joey. Her favorite activities include watching her boys play ball, reading, and cheering on the Ravens and Orioles!
