Mr. Baker

Mr. Baker is a new educator who joined Mays Chapel Elementary after recently graduating from Towson University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. He is excited to be rejoining Baltimore County after spending his formative years as a student in the county. His passion for education is driven by his own desire to learn and share that knowledge with those around him. He has a fondness for science and nature and is eager to share that enthusiasm with his students. Outside of school, he enjoys cycling, canoeing, and painting. He also enjoys watching animation and is a big fan of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team.

Mrs. Kline:

Mrs. Kline has been teaching in the BCPS system since 2007. She previously taught in Catonsville, and then moved to Mays Chapel ES its opening year in 2014. Mrs. Kline taught kindergarten for ten years and is currently starting her second year teaching first grade.  She graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2006 from Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan.  Mrs. Kline has two daughters at home and enjoys reading, cooking, yoga and gardening.


Mrs. Shimkaveg:  

Mrs. Shimkaveg graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. Mrs. Shimkaveg has been a special educator in Baltimore County for 11 years. She has taught at both Chatsworth Elementary and Oliver Beach Elementary.  She is passionate about providing the best education for all students. Mrs. Shimkaveg has 2 children and her husband is also a special educator in Baltimore County. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, and hanging out with her family.

Mrs. Smith:

Mrs. Smith (formerly Ms. Quimby) loves teaching first grade and is excited to be on this educational journey with her students! Teaching has always been her passion and her goal is to make her classroom an exciting and inviting place for all of her students. Mrs. Smith graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education in 2013. She began her career as a Special Education Inclusion Teacher in Baltimore County where she fulfilled that role for two years. In 2015, Mrs. Smith  joined the first grade team at Mays where she taught for four years before moving to fourth grade for a couple of years. This year, Mrs. Smith is back to teaching first grade and she couldn’t be more excited! Mrs. Smith graduated with a Master’s Degree in Leadership in Special Education – Exceptionalities from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2018. Mrs. Smith loves to spend time with her friends and family, stay active, and craft!
